This video will help you write your first Cabinet Vision User Created Standard (UCS). My goal in this video is to show you enough things to open your mind and imagination to the things that are possible with UCSs within Cabinet Vision. We will be working through an example of adding a bull nose to an adjustable shelf in this video.

This video picks up where we left off last time, focusing on how to manage the different aspects of a drawing set and staying organized throughout the process from within Cabinet Vision.

Additionally, we will respond to a question from the last video about different dimension styles and how they can be setup to produce consistently sized fonts between scenes presented at different scales. Specifically I show how to setup two scenes, one at 1-1/2"=1'-0" and one at 1"=1'-0" scale to have identically sized fonts, a feature Cabinet Vision does not handle very well.

Most of what I share in this video comes from personal experience working with an AWI QCP certified Architectural Millwork shop, producing drawings for large scale millwork and casework projects several years back.

Last but not least, I'd like to thank not only the entire community, but also specifically Nathan Beaudry from Beaudry's Custom Woodworking out of Newberg, Oregon. He has been a constant supporter of mine and out of the goodness of his heart has (un?) intentionally sponsored me and this series by gifting me a much needed microphone that has really improved the quality of what I am able to produce. In this Cabinet Vision Tutorial, we begin to introduce you to the feature 'User Created Standards' or also known as UCS's. This feature is for Solid Advanced and Solid Ultimate levels of Cabinet Vision.

Hello and welcome to the tutorial on how to utilize the DCS function inside Cabinet vision.

This'll be going to a basic UCS and we'll add a part. One assembly with given rules the ability to create and modify UCS is is a feature of solid, advanced and solid ultimate.

Today we will be working within Solid Ultimate first things. First, I'm going to ensure that I have created a part for the purpose of this demonstration. I'll be adding in an adjustable shelf noise. This will be placed in the assembly category. Make sure these parts is also implemented into your material schedule said that it has a material assigned to it. Returning to the splash screen.

We will now go to utilities and to the user created standards function. The User Created Standards menu features buttons along the top that let you create copy and delay. UCS is as well as having increase and decrease priority buttons. Well may create a UCS cabinet vision will read them in a descending order, starting at the top thing moving down the list. This means that we can create a UC ist that turns on a function. But if further down the list. We have another UCS that turns the function off than the UCS. Lower down on the list will have been the last to take effect. UCS is congee turned on or off with the Lego off the light bulb by selecting the U. C s first and then pressing. This button, the longer to the right of the light shows us the top of UCS description. Compliments. This, such as he a China link, is then described as a link in the description, and this is repeated also for the gear icon. If a UCS had public variables that could be modified, that would also a p he. Since we're only creating introductory UCS, we will not use this function.

We will then go to the top left hand corner and create a new U. C S will be creating a UCS that will add an adjustable shelf knows when the shelf is over a particular value or length. Once you're creating new UCS, the following dialogue boxes shine. We have advancing categories listed along the top as well as back. Next, cancel and finish function buttons down below the first tab he's listed. General, we're going to add our names were nameless. UCS add adjustable shelf noise This'll CCS will add our freshly created pot. When particular parameters omit, we're going to select the top down below.

We have three options available. Ad link a pot, modify pot and delete a pop will be adding a pot on the right hand side. Scroll down to find the autumn that we created Alia. We'll click. Adjustable Shelf knows we will then advance with the next button. This takes us to the link to Tab. It's asking what would like to link al pot, too. We can link it to a assembly opening part or operation. We're going to link these two a pot being that we want this to configure itself with the adjustable shelf, we'll pick the adjustable shelf pot on the right. Well, when I use the next button to advance through the top tabs, stopping on the construction method tab. This is a filter we can apply so that our UCS will only activate when the given construction method is ticked. Leaving yourself means this filter won't be applied. We will now advance to the conditions for adjustable shelf. This means there is conditions on the adjustable shelf, which is the part we are relating. Our shelf knows too. Since we want this to apply under certain parameters, we will try and achieve the following we wanted so that when the shelf is over, a particular value this shelf knows will be added. Therefore, we're going to take length than under operation is greater than and our value will be 600. Therefore, when out adjustable shelf length is over or greater than 600 are shelf knows will then be activated. The next tab is where we select the values Fair adjustable shelf knows the wit will be 40 millimeters. This is a default length. I would like it to be The length is where we will link it up to the following since we're adding our adjustable shelf knows to an adjustable shelf. The adjustable shelf is now referred to as the parent. So in the length we would like the length value to be equal to the parents length with a plus value off zero This woman. It will entirely be the length off the adjustable shelf advancing through the last menu. We will click finish.

We can now see our UCS appearing in our user created standards list it is listed above. Add adjustable shelf NYSE. It is the first in the order. It tells us what part it relates to, and it gives a description.

The description is generated based on how we advance through the previous menu. So this state's links adjustable shelf knows to adjustable shelf will now enter job in which we will place a cabinet, increase the adjustable shelf to over the size of 600 millimeters and read the reports inside the cabinet to see a pot appearing. The way we configure the UCS means that this will not appear graphically.

It will simply appear in the reports toe at this part. So we physically said we will need to go back through the use c'est configuration and configure it so that it will appear graphically double clicking on our existing UCS advanced through to the adjustable shelf knows values tab. We can identify that down on the left hand side. Here we have the display graphically button. Once ticked, the following options become available. We have a line of configuration for the X Y and Z position, as well as the X y and Z rotation. The information I used is shown he two best understand the X Y and Z position as well as their rotation.

I would suggest utilizing our object tree video to gain the understanding on what these h mean in reference to parts and cabinets. I have assigned the exposition to be the parents with the y is a fixed value of zero,and this said position is the parent's death. I have also rotated it in the Y axis, so it sits on its end to former nose on the shelf. Let's have a look at how this applied in the Cabinet.

From this perspective, we can tell that the shelf nosing has applied to the front off the adjustable shelf. However, the shelf beings still, the full depth of the cabinet means that apart has placed in collision with the doors.

We will now create an additional UCS, which when the shelf is over 600 millimeters, it will reduce its depth to account for the shelf nosing part going to their face. Then user created standards will go up to the top left hand corner and create a new U. C s we'll name the UCS the following who then select Modify a pot and select the adjustable shelf. Since this is what we would like to modify selecting next, we will advance for the menus until we reached the adjustable shelf conditions much like the previous use. Yes, we need to select the length is greater than and select 600 meaning that it is engaged when the length is greater than 600. We now have this new menu called adjustable shelf Values. This is asking us how we would like to modify the given part.
We will take with under parameter under how to modify. We will change it to adjust by and then under value minus 16.5, which is the thickness of our adjustable shelf NYSE selecting finish.

We can then go back to the job to see this in effect from the envy, we can see here that the shelf now that it's over 600 millimeters has both added the adjustable shelf knows and modest the width of the shelf, said that it sits properly inside. The cabinet will also go to Plan B and drag this to be under the 600 millimeters specified in their parameters. We can see here that not only is the shelf nose gone, but the shelf is back to its original with we have successfully created a UCS that added a pot into the job. This then went on to adjust the shelf with. For that part in this video, we have learned how to create a basic UCS ad parts into a job within set parameters and then modify one of those items. You can take this and apply to many different scenarios. Retry the same method today but substituting different parts. You will then be able to achieve many different results, utilizing user created standards. I hope you've been able to take away many items that you'll be able to implement into your own use off Cabinet vision.
